In 1991 Peter joined the HSE Aerosol Science team where he developed dust samplers and dermal measurement techniques. Since 1999 Peter has been a member of HSE occupational hygiene practitioners.
Peter has practical experience in collection of samples of hazardous materials in workplaces; designing and performing exposure surveys; analysis of exposure data, and assessment of exposure control.
Peter has been involved in researching exposures measurement in GB mines throughout his career. His research included the assessment of the practicability of replacing static sampling with personal exposure monitoring in coal mines.
Peter won the BOHS Ted King award and holds the status of Chartered Physicist and Chartered Occupational Hygienist. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and chair of Workplace Health Without Border UK charity whose aim is to develop occupational health in developing countries.
